Want to live in the US? Forget H-1B, EB-5 Visas! Go to America this way
Yes, you read that right! Forget H-1B, EB-5 visas! No need to run after these hard to get visas to go to the US. Now, you can eye another route and if all goes well, then you will reach your destination and fulfill your dreams! Yes, there are multiple options still available for people planning to migrate to the United States, and not just via the H-1B, EB-5 visas. How? Read on.
The trick is that Indian citizens will have to take a roundabout route. In fact, they can go to the US by applying for citizenship in Grenada, West Indies, revealed Mark Davies, Global Chairman, Davies and Associates - he was speaking to the Economic Times. Having said that, this does not help in attaining a direct US citizenship, it is a critical first step!
There are a number of professional/ occupational options to be explored in this island nation and they throw up multiple business opportunities. Importantly, it offers one of the most widely accepted passports in the world.
So, as a Grenada passport holder, an Indian is eligible for an E-2 investor visa to the US.
How to get Grenada or Antigua passport?
Grenada and Antigua are E-2 treaty nations. So, a $150,000 payment in Grenada's National Transformation Fund or investment in property there will get you a citizenship, Davies told ET. This in turn offers these people the opportunity to secure an E-2 Visa. However, E-2 Visas require an investment of approximately $100,000. E-2 visa offers migrants chance to invest in a business in the US.
Davies says an E-2 visa basically offers the potential to invest in a small business in the United States and to manage that possibly for a lifetime.
Another very important fact is that the spouses of E-2 visa holders can work wherever they wish to! A number of Indians have tried and tested this alternate route in a combination with an EB-5 visa, Davies revealed.
The additional benefit the E-2 visa holds is that it allows the investor to live and work in America while their EB-5 application is under the process of completion, Davies told ET.
