About Dennis Kinnane
With nearly 50 years of health care experience, first in Western medicine as a Registered Pharmacist with 21 years of experience and then as a Doctor of Oriental Medicine and Master of Acupuncture and Herbology since 1988, Dr. Kinnane can pull from decades of experience and knowledge in two of the oldest and most practiced forms of healing on the planet today. Many of his patients are those who have been unable to recover after years of limited to no success. A graduate of both Purdue University and SAMRA University of Oriental Medicine, Dr. Kinnane has licenses in both California and Indiana and has studied many other non traditional healing methods including Yoga, homeopathy, Reiki, flower remedies, Tui Na, moxibustion and cupping. Some of the difficult cases which he has worked on include all types of arthritis, soft tissue injuries, frozen shoulder, sciatica, neck and upper back pain, sinusitis and rhinitis, tendonitis, bursitis, migraine headaches, cluster headaches, infertility, PMS, postmenopausal disorder, gastroenteritis, GERD, irritable bowel syndrome, Crohn's disease, gall stones, duodenal ulcers, cholesterol and blood lipid issues, hypertension and impotence.. In Chinese medicine everyone is an individual with individual needs and remedies and Dr. Kinnane is well suited to determine what is best for YOU rather than just taking a cookie cutter, one-size-fits-all approach....
Thank you for viewing my profile. Please let me give you a brief bio to introduce myself. I am Dr. Dennis Kinnane, OMD, L.Ac.. I have been a student and practitioner of the healing arts for over 40 years. After graduating from Purdue University in 1969 with a 5-year Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy, I passed the Indiana boards and practiced as a retail pharmacist in Indiana until 1974.
In 1974, having discovered the "promised land" I decided to move to Southern California, took and passed the California Pharmacy board exam and moved to Los Angeles. Ten years later, in 1984 while practicing pharmacy, I experienced a personal revelation relating to the healing power of herbal medicine. At that point I decided to return to school full time to study herbs and Oriental medicine at SAMRA University in Los Angeles.
After 4 years of intense, mind changing, full time study, all the while continuing to work as a pharmacist, I graduated in 1988 having earned both a Master's and a Doctorate in Oriental Medicine. That same year I passed the Acupuncture Board Exam and became a Licensed Acupuncturist in California.
Besides Western conventional medicine, acupuncture and both Western and Oriental herbal medicines, I have made in-depth study and practice of Yoga, Chinese Qi Gong, Reiki and Tui Na massage. In the course of exploring ancient healing traditions I have also had three initiations into Huna, the ancient Polynesian healing practice and am a student of metaphysics. I firmly believe that Natural medicine and healing are the only real path to wellness and that we have been side tracked by the use of synthetic petrochemicals in our health care system.
To date, I have been engaged in the practice of Oriental medicine in Torrance, California since April of 1989. During the ensuing 20 years I have successfully treated many hundreds of patients seeking an alternative to symptomatic "illness management" medicine and endless "drug therapy". Yes, there actually ARE cures to many illnesses of which we are unaware in Western medicine and NO treatment doesn't have to make you worse or make you feel sicker than you were before! There are treatments without side effects! Come and try some old medicine that works!
